Ever since I was a kid, Accra has suffered these floods, and I’m talking about PNDC era when the nation was so shocked at how the water snatched a little girl from the father who attempted fruitlessly to save her life. Almost 40 years on, we still are in the pre-planning stage of solving this annual canker. Party in and out, Ghanaians face these floods and yet come 2028, there will be a winner from the two most corrupt parties.

If the government can seal some of the financial pits draining the national coffers, some money could be used to build shelters. It is not lack of money. It is management and commitment to do it.

What about getting the 48 engineers regiment to build emergency shelters , tents at all the staduims across the country to give temporary accomodation to petsons affected. In the meantime suspend all football games till permanent solutions are put in place. The government doesnt have money to build but your office asked the police service to find immediate accomodation including hotels for all the police officers and their immediate families who were affected by the tudu police barracks fire. Saying no police offi er should be left without a roof over their heads. Do we have a 2 tier system in the country now when it comes to who to help immediately in times of disaster. Haba ghana our motherland. And politician who uses the flooding disaster to play blame politics should be remanded immediately in pokice custody until we manage to find a lasting solution and effective law enforcement crackdown on those who litter our streets and drains.

Also there is accommodation to cater for people because there are a lot of churched around, which are opened for church service only on Sundays. In case there is an emergency situation during the holidays, you can use classrooms and school premises to shelter people in need.
