A seven-bedroom, three-storey building under construction has collapsed at Tabora Number 6 in Accra after torrential rains hit the capital city on Monday, June 29, 2026.
A video shared by Joy Prime on X on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, showed the building completely reduced to rubble, with concrete blocks, iron rods and other construction materials scattered across the site.
The building, which was reportedly about 90% complete, is said to have collapsed at about 9:00 pm after hours of heavy rainfall.
No casualties were recorded as occupants reportedly evacuated the premises before the structure came down.
The footage also showed residents gathered around the collapsed building, assessing the extent of the damage while some personal belongings remained trapped beneath the debris.
The incident has been linked to the heavy rains that triggered widespread flooding across Accra on Monday, June 29, 2026, affecting several communities, destroying property and disrupting movement across the city.
Residents are awaiting officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to assess the scene and determine the cause of the collapse.
The incident has renewed concerns over the structural integrity of buildings in flood-prone areas as authorities continue to assess the impact of Monday's downpour across the Greater Accra Region.
Meanwhile a statement by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on June 29, 2026, put the death toll from the downpour and floods at 12 and rescued persons at 150.
