Ghana observes National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on July 1, 2026, an initiative started by President John Dramani Mahama to foster spiritual renewal and national unity.
The second edition of the event seeks to encourage all citizens to take stock of Ghana's journey, let go of negative habits, and recommit to national values of discipline, unity, and hope.
From its inception the observance has been presented as non-partisan and interfaith, with a strong moral focus.
The day's activities begin with a Christian prayer service at 8:00 AM at the forecourt of the State House in Accra, followed by an Islamic prayer session at 12:30 PM at the National Mosque in Kawukudi.
