Some of the effects of the fiscal consolidation that we are touting as good. Many ministries are virtually not functioning although workers are being paid. Eg NCCE.

Nobody should use these disasters to justify why we should back to our old ways of doing things. Which by the way ended us in a COMA at IMF. That nonsense has to stop.

Financial controls are necessary when you don't have the needed resources and/or there's is wastage in the system. In this case the funds for the project to control the flooding is available. Why should people die and others lose their property for not using the available funds. Please tell me the funds have not been misappropriated.

All world Bank projects are meant to a solve a criticial national problem or achieve a important result.

The Minister lacks expertise and knowledge. He is an Accountant and does not appreciate development financing and macro economics.

So the story going around that Nana Addo and the NPP government squandered the World Bank money meant for solving the perennial floods in Accra has been a big fat lie. Now the bank itself has made it cogently clear as to who are responsible for the inability to solve or even mitigate the effects of the Accra floods. Well when fiscal consolidation trumps all other economic considerations this is the result we get. May Allah save us.
