The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has confirmed that 34 people have died across the country following the devastating floods that struck on Monday, June 29,2026 with nearly 90,000 people displaced.

According to a report by adomonline.com on July 4, 2026, the Director of Inspectorate at NADMO, Richard Amo Yartey, said 12 of the deaths were recorded in Accra, while the remaining 22 fatalities occurred in other flood-affected parts of the country.

He warned that the death toll could increase as the organisation continues to reconcile reports of missing persons with bodies recovered during ongoing search operations.

"The death toll in Accra is 12, across the country is 34 but it could go up. If we did the matching and realise that some of the people missing have been found dead, then the death toll will increase and those listed as missing will reduce," he said.

Amo Yartey said NADMO officials remain on the ground in affected communities, searching for missing persons while providing assistance to victims.

He added that the organisation has intensified the distribution of relief items to displaced persons across the country.

"As I speak to you now the warehouse is busy moving supplies to the distressed. Relief is across the country, we are going to send relief everywhere," he stated.

According to NADMO, the floods affected seven regions and displaced a total of 89,736 people.

The Greater Accra Region recorded the highest number of displaced persons, with 54,712 people affected, followed by the Central Region with 21,882 displaced residents.

The Volta Region recorded 8,534 displaced persons, while 2,020 people were displaced in the Western Region.

The Ashanti Region recorded 1,461 displaced persons, followed by the Western North Region with 937. The Eastern Region recorded the lowest number, with 190 people displaced in Abuakwa South.

NADMO said its response teams remain deployed in the affected areas as search, recovery and relief operations continue.
