The are 2 trend of thoughts:
1. Do not inform the public of what government know or
2. Let the public know so those who may otherwise have fallen victim to smugglers can make a decision of using illegal assistance at the border.

Additionally, the information obligates the current government to plan and execute what can do to help eliminate existing illegal crossings and to help with discouraging others from going rouge.

There are Ghanaians who stay along the so-called unapproved border routes who have farms in Togo and there are Togolese nationals staying along the so-called unapproved routes who have wives on the Ghana side. The children of these Togolese attend school in Ghana and after classes, go back to Togo. Same thing happens with the Ghana - Côte d'Ivoire side and the Paga and Dakora in Burkina Faso. There is NOTHING that can be done about this. Take for instance, the case of Ghana and Burkina. Both Paga and Dakora speak one NATIVE language, same applies to Togo and Ghana and Ghana and Ivory Coast. Leave the people alone.
