It's not a crime for informant to let the authorities know what payment they'll need in return for their services as an informant. The request for a house is outlandish, but certainly not a crime, nor is there any evidence that this person was ever engaged in drug trafficking. Having a knowledge of people actively engaged in drug trafficking doesn't necessarily mean one is engaged in drug trafficking.

One that involves follow-up; an individual providing more evidence, a factor of time and effort seen in the work, needs huge silent motivation.

These people can be trained further to help as licensed private investigators.

Let’s be realistic: if professionals are paid, citizens who support their work should also be rewarded. A 24-hour economy is right there; employment for some is resolved.

Do you think giving out such information is safe? He's risking his life so that you can do your job. He deserves to secure his future and provide for his family. In some parts of the world, informants are taken care of for the rest of their lives. If you can't do the job on your own, then pay the informant for helping you do it instead of complaining. What kind of nonsense is that, he asked for a house because he has a big fish you can catch.
