If singing the national anthem is now the yardstick for patriotism, then what about officials who belt it out like a philharmonic choir every Monday—only to loot the very nation they're singing about by Tuesday?

Our golden generation team were as much as 90% Ghanaian raised players. Go figure that! I even advocated that any national team player must speak at least one national language besides English. The sense of pride to represent the country is now mostly missing from some players. Ghanaians authorities in charge must fix the local structures! Otherwise it will only get worse. Bringing lots of foreign born players into a team with no local structures to assimilate them into a strong local cohort will not achieve the zeal or effort of a golden generation for Ghana.

Current Blackstars first 11 has no idea of the feeling in Kotoko or hearts or liberty or local football: Luckersen, Semenyo, Jordan, Inaki, Brandon, Zigi, Jerome, Marvin etc. Because GFA has killed our local team football spirit!

Reset the GFA because the current administration is not one that strives for excellence. They continuously celebrate underachievement. That is a bigger problem to tackle.

Who told you soldiers don’t sing? Every military in the world has a unique singing arm of soldiers band, who are well drilled to deliver the anthem. The least a foreign-born Ghanaian player can do is to familiarise themselves with the nations emblems that comes with the flag. Even many western countries now require passing a citizenship test before anyone can join them. It may seem trivial but it is very powerful effect once you go through the process successfully. Many foreign born players want to come home but we must put some structure to HELP THEM connect properly.

It’s not compulsory for every athlete to sing the anthem before a contest. Is it because of that they lost their game? In US citizenship they expect you to know the anthem but they don’t ask you to sing it before you qualify.

Remember we are speaking of players who have never lived in Ghana, never often visit Ghana and only speak English, in that position not everyone can comfortably just play their heart out like Brandon Asante. Also in military, if your own branch is belting the song, you don’t need to join in just like a choir at a church, church members can listen but if you go on foreign grounds you have to sing along because it is not your branch delivering it and and they only play a beat. Also nobody is claiming causation but you cannot deny correlation. The president has made a good observation some of us have seen ages ago.
