Headteacher of Glikpome Basic School reportedly found dead at a guest house

A 44-year-old headteacher of Glikpome Basic School in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, has reportedly been found dead at a guest house.

The deceased, identified as Selorm Kwaku Tettey, popularly known as “TK”, was found lying motionless on a bed at the guest house at about 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

The tragic news was announced in a series of posts on the Facebook page, Akatsi Today, on July 8, 2026.

"The Akatsi South Municipality is in mourning following the tragic and untimely death of Mr Selorm Kwaku Tettey, popularly known as 'TK,' the Headteacher of Glikpome Basic School, who was found dead at a guest house in Akatsi," one of the posts stated.

According to the post, the circumstances surrounding Tettey's death remain unclear, with authorities yet to establish the cause.

The post also addressed claims circulating on social media, clarifying that the deceased checked into the guest house with another adult and not a female student of the school, as had been alleged in some online reports.

"The cause of his death is yet to be established, and investigations are expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident," the post added.

Although details surrounding the incident remain sketchy, authorities are expected to investigate the matter to determine what led to his death.

News of his passing has left the Glikpome Basic School community in shock and thrown the entire Akatsi South Municipality in mourning, with many paying tribute to him.
