Aminatu Zakaria, who previously worked as a househelp, says she has already spent one year in prison and is appealing for help to correct what she describes as a discrepancy in her sentencing records and secure her release.

According to a post shared on the Facebook page of Crime Check TV GH, on July 9, 2026, Aminatu was convicted after she was accused of stealing some dollars belonging to her employers in Adentan.

Ulysses Amoako, who described himself as a father figure to Aminatu, said the young woman admitted taking the money but kept the remaining amount in the house.

He explained that her employers, a couple, reported that they could not find the money, although they later recovered the amount allegedly taken by Aminatu.

Amoako said the matter subsequently went before the court, where Aminatu was sentenced.

However, he alleged that when she arrived at prison, she was informed that her sentence was 36 months instead of the six months she believed had been handed down by the court.

"Aminatu has now served 1 year of her sentence and is appealing for help to correct the court records and secure her release," the post stated.

He said efforts to resolve the matter have so far not been successful, claiming that both the court clerk and the prosecutor told Aminatu that “nothing can be done.”

Amoako also raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding Aminatu’s employment, alleging that the male employer had made sexual advances toward her, which she rejected.

According to him, the rejection allegedly led to threats by the employer to “teach her a lesson".

Aminatu is now seeking assistance to have the matter reviewed and the records relating to her sentence verified.

She is appealing for support to ensure that the correct court decision is implemented and that any errors in the documentation of her sentence are addressed.
