42nd National Farmers' Day: MoFA receives pickup, 20 motorcycles

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has received a brand-new Nissan pickup truck, 20 motorcycles and an agricultural tractor from the EEZZY Group Foundation to support the 42nd National Farmers' Day celebrations.

The presentation was made at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Accra on Wednesday July 15, 2026, bringing together government officials, development partners, farmers and members of the media.

The Foundation said the donation forms part of its commitment to supporting President John Dramani Mahama's Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda, which seeks to modernise agriculture, improve productivity, create jobs and strengthen food security.

Presenting the items, Chief Executive Officer of EEZZY Group Foundation, Mohammed Raii, described agriculture as the backbone of national development and reaffirmed the Foundation's commitment to supporting farmers.

"We are here today to present our humble gift to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Agriculture is life. Without agriculture, there is no nation and no future. Supporting our farmers means supporting every Ghanaian family," he said.

Raii also expressed appreciation to Samson Deen for facilitating the partnership with the Ministry.

"I would like to sincerely thank Samson Deen for giving us this opportunity to stand before you today and contribute to this very important national cause," he stated.

He praised President Mahama for prioritising agriculture and national development.

"I have never seen a leader who thinks more about the future of this great country than President John Dramani Mahama. His commitment to agriculture and national development is inspiring, and we are honoured to support this vision," Raii added.

The donation comprises one Nissan pickup truck for the National Best Farmer, 20 motorcycles to support agricultural operations and National Farmers' Day activities, and a modern agricultural tractor with accessories to promote mechanised farming.

Receiving the items, Minister for Food and Agriculture Eric Opoku commended the Foundation for its contribution, describing it as a demonstration of strong corporate social responsibility.

He announced that this year's National Best Farmer will receive one of the most attractive reward packages in the history of the awards, including a brand-new Nissan pickup truck, a GH¢1.2 million cash prize, a brand-new agricultural tractor and assorted modern farm inputs and equipment.

The Minister disclosed that the Ministry has also received two additional pickup trucks from other corporate organisations and a 50-seater bus to be awarded to the Best Senior High School in Practical Agriculture.

Opoku appealed to businesses, institutions and philanthropists to support this year's Farmers' Day celebrations, assuring that all donations would be distributed transparently to deserving beneficiaries.

He further announced that the National Farmers' Day Planning Committee, chaired by Deputy Agriculture Minister John Dumelo, will soon publish official bank account details to enable individuals and organisations to make financial contributions toward the celebration.

The 42nd National Farmers' Day will be held on December 4, 2026, under the theme, "Our Farmers, Our Food, Our Future."
