Raymond Archer deserves praise for tackling corruption – Ebo Buckman

Deputy Director of Communications of the United Party (UP), Ebo Buckman, has commended the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Raymond Archer, for his role in exposing corruption in the country.

Speaking on 3FM on July 16, 2026, he said Archer’s actions demonstrate a commitment to fighting corruption and urged Ghanaians to support efforts aimed at ensuring accountability in public office.

“We should all applaud Raymond Archer for nipping corruption in the bud,” he said.

According to him, the steps taken by Archer in relation to the matter involving Miracles Aboagye should be viewed as part of broader efforts to protect public resources.

“Raymond Archer has taken it upon himself to do what is right for this country. Miracles Aboagye was given an opportunity to serve this country, but you people, NPP, made him a Chief Executive and later sacked him.

“You did not tell Ghanaians why you sacked him. If he was that good, would you have sacked him? If he were that good, would you have sacked him? They sacked that young man, then you gave him a position,” he remarked.

Buckman further argued that public officials must be held accountable when allegations of financial misconduct emerge, adding that investigations should not be halted because of the status of individuals involved.

He also cited previous cases where persons accused of wrongdoing were arrested at the airport, arguing that similar principles should apply in all corruption-related investigations.

“Tsatsu Tsikata was arrested at the airport. Victor Selormey, the man even had heart problems, was abroad. But when he learned that they wanted him, he came to Ghana, and they arrested him at the airport,” he stated.

The UP communications executive maintained that the fight against corruption requires the cooperation of all stakeholders and praised Archer for what he described as his contribution to promoting accountability.
