I am sorry. Teacher Trainees and other Professionals should NOT be given any Allowances. They should be rather be given Loans which they have to pay with Interest. In Uncle Sam’s country, Canada and the Western Countries, no Professional Students are given Allowances. They are all given loans that attracts Annual Interest. Is this difficult for Ghana to adopt. Why be giving Professional Training Allowances when the country is that BROKE. John Mahama, are you OKAY?

Allowance was being paid to attract students to train as teachers but now we have so many of them sitting at home unemployed, can’t we use these allowance to employ them ? . 2. These days Training colleges are offering degrees. So why are we paying those in colleges doing degrees but no allowance to those in universities doing same or similar educational degrees? . 3 why are we paying teacher training allowances to father of six or a mature teacher who has decided to upgrade himself or herself at college?

Even in the advanced industrialized countries with high per capita income nothing is free. Services are paid for through taxes. The decision to implement Teacher Training Allowance smells political. It aimed at gaining votes in the next election.
