Ho Airport was built on the insistence of a certain chief whose tribalism defies common sense. Since this useless airport was built it has been a total waste of taxpayers money. Not even one cedi has been received in revenue. What kind of economic and industrial activity goes on in Ho in particular and Volta Region in general? Why will any group of sane individuals recommend this project. Are we treating the people living there with respect and compassion. Is this the best and most needed project? Why are taxpayers money still being wasted? What a sick country.

ROAD BUILDING DOES NOT TURN HEADS OR IMPRESS MUCH.ROAD BUILDING IS VERY BORING YET FAR OUTPACES BUILDING PRESTIGE PROJECTS SUCH AS AIRPORTS, SEA PORTS ETC BECAUSE IT ADDS GREAT VALUE TO THE LIVES OF ORDINARY PEOPLE OF ANY NATION. In other words, it is one of the quickest and most reliable ways to lift a nation out of poverty.
Prioritizing countrywide road building will cause a nations GDP to grow exponentially.
Thousands of years ago the ancient Romans conquered and maintained their position as an empire for centuries by building excellent roads everywhere they set foot. The British colonial authorities did the same during their reign as the largest empire in recorded human history.
BUILDING ROADS IS THE FASTEST AND CHEAPEST WAY TO STIMULATE TRADE IN A COUNTRY BECAUSE IT SPEED SUP THE MOVEMENT OF GOODS AND SERVICES (FOUNDATIONAL PILLARS OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT).
Good roads also make it so much easier for other vital infrastructure projects to be built healthcare facilities, educational facilities, energy supplies, water supplies and sanitation. Essential works would be happier to work in rural areas if these were easily accessible and developed. GOOD ROADS ALSO ATTRACT INWARD INVESTMENT FROM FOREIGN COMPANIES AND FIRMS.
NO INSULT TO THE TRANSPORT MINISTER AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DAY BUT IF WE ARE SERIOUS ABOUT LIFTING GHANA OUT OF THE CURRENT ECONOMIC QUAGMIRE THEN THEIR KEY PHRASE OR MANTRA SHOULD BE "BUILD ROADS"
What is the point in building airports when they will be seriously underutilised by ordinary Ghanaians compared to that in other countries. Build roads to increase economic development and thereby put more money in the pockets of Ghanaians who will then be able to afford air travel which at this point is LUXURY ITEM.
