Ignatius Kutu Acheampong born on September 23, 1931 at Nwamase enlisted in the Ghana Armed Forces in 1953 and rose through the ranks by dint of dedication to duty.

On March 17, 1958, he entered the Regular Officers' Special Training School, a precursor of the Ghana Military Academy and trained for six months as an officer cadet.

He later underwent training at the Mons Officers' Cadet School in Aldershot and was commissioned into the Infantry Corps as a Second Lieutenant in November 1958 with the service number GH/77.

Following the ouster of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah on February 24, 1966, he chaired the Western and Brong Ahafo Committees of Administration under the National Liberation Council.

In the Armed Forces, he held a number of appointments, such as Platoon Commander, Third Infantry Battalion, Adjutant, Second Infantry Battalion, Commanding Officer, Sixth Infantry Battalion and Commanding Officer, Fifth Infantry Battalion.

As Commander of the First Infantry Brigade, he ousted Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia in a coup on January 13, 1972 with support from Majors later Colonels Anthony Hugh Selormey, Kwame Baah and Barnabas Kodzo Agbo.

There is no need to go deep. Hmm! How many of the past leaders of Ghana had won the $1m yearly award set by Africa as a fellow of integrity after service. Failure to win, clear evidence of corruptible influences. And why should Utuka be killed. And why should others be killed.
The death of Christ marks an era. Those who killed Christ had long be killed one after the other without record inscribed. If nobody kills the killer, the death would automatically kill them. Once being born death is imminent, yet some obtaining upper had behave as if they were part creation.
The death of those eliminated for nothing are recorded in national history books. Are those who killed them still living. And if gone, recorded in national archives? Big NO is the answer. Only the common sensed people cherish diminutive power which is POLITICAL.
The kid of the slain people are living. Sad would that be today. The secret is they could do nothing. Yet blood would be boiling in frustration. The next steps can not be imagined and can not speculate upon.
