To blame ex-president Akufo-Addo or anyone in the NPP majority government for the decisions and actions of Wontumi is to imply that either the NPP party members in the Ashanti region that elected Womtumi as the party chairman underestimated the value of the role, the capacity to evaluate and judge the character of its party leaders or that the NPP party in the region were sold a bill of goods by Wontumi.

It is very easy to prove that the leadership, members, closet supporters and others of the NPP party in the Ashanti region chose Wontumi because of the money he expended to fortify the NPP in the region and the "jobs" he gave people who are true and tested Ashanti folks. Let's face it, the NPP party members in Kumasi metropolitan area could care less what Wontumi did to earn his money just as long as he provided paychecks for some since NPP MP's from the Ashanti region were as useless to anyone in the region like titts on a bull.

Wontumi provided a platform for wannabe journalists to practice how to lie and defame, how to make belief untruths, how to make fake posters of people and how to make listeners of Wontumi radio and TV shows believe Wontumi was God's gift to the party and Ashanti region. It was in that atmosphere Wontumi decided he was untoucheable and more powerful than anyone in the NDC and in all regional branches of the NPP. Ex-president Akufo-Addo did not give Wontumi orders to challenge HE John Mahama as a person and leader of the NDC, Wontumi was emboldened by the activities of 12-years of NPP schemes and disrespect of state institutions because he could buy people in state institutions to do his bidding the same way he purchased the people and entity knowns as the Ashanti region NPP party.

In fact, NPP's corruption from 2017 - 2024, was worst than that of 1972 - 1979 era. So, I think this Tribunal (Bill) should be strict, harsh, and stronger than even the those times!

Unfortunately, almost all of us citizens who would comment about cases of this kind do it with clear political bias. Not wrong though, but until the citizen fiber sufficiently lose our grips of party biases, there's no intentionality for any step by which we may attempt sustainable development. And this Wontumi case is one, and looks more like a bite against NPP.
But can the law be sincere enough to do same to high-profile NDC affiliates while the party is in power? This is a query for sustainability. If no, then the truth is that this case is going to be just another 'politrick' on Ghanains, i.e. it's only going to be a give-and-take affair with incumbent parties granting amnesties to their own but pursuing other's, and not really meant for the sustained good of all Ghana. This is how I recommend that we begin to query matters if we all really mean sustainable development for ourselves.
