Watch as man battles deadly snake at galamsey site

Some illegal miners at a yet-to-be-identified mining site experienced a tense moment after one of them encountered a large snake.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb on X on July 19, 2026, the reptile appeared to have emerged from one of the pits dug by the miners.

The miners surrounded the snake and threw stones at it in an attempt to kill it, but their efforts were initially unsuccessful.

The snake later crawled into muddy water that had collected in one of the pits as it attempted to escape. However, one of the miners followed it into the pit while holding a machete.

The incident attracted the attention of other miners, who gathered around the pit and watched the struggle unfold. Some of them were heard making comments while recording the scene as the miner continued his attempt to subdue the reptile.

The video later showed the snake had been killed and was dragged out of the pit by the miner who overpowered it.
