President Mahama meets Wisconsin Governor to boost Ghana-US trade ties

President John Dramani Mahama has held discussions with Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers as part of efforts to strengthen trade, investment and business partnerships between Ghana and the United States.

The meeting, which took place at the Presidency in Accra, formed part of Governor Evers’ trade mission to Ghana, aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration between Wisconsin businesses and Ghanaian companies.

President Mahama highlighted Ghana’s economic prospects following the successful completion of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, noting that the country is positioning itself as a competitive, export-driven economy.

He used the engagement to outline key government initiatives, including the 24-Hour Economy programme and the establishment of the Accelerated Export Development Advisory Committee, which are designed to boost production, expand exports and attract investment.

The President also expressed interest in exploring potential partnerships in agriculture and other sectors with Wisconsin State, particularly in areas that could enhance Ghana’s economic transformation and create opportunities for businesses in both countries.

Governor Tony Evers, who led a delegation of business representatives, reaffirmed Wisconsin’s commitment to building global partnerships and promoting the state as a destination for investment and business growth.

The engagement forms part of Ghana’s broader efforts to deepen international economic cooperation and attract strategic investments to support sustainable development.

President Mahama reiterated that Ghana remains open for business and ready to establish partnerships that promote shared prosperity between the two nations.
