In 2012, state-owned pensions giant, SSNIT initiated a process to offload 75% of its 98% stake in Merchant Bank to South African firm, First Rand., but the deal was allegedly blocked by forces at the Presidency, occupied at the time by former President John Mahama.

Public opposition to the deal intensified when it was revealed that while First Rand was prepared to invest GHC 176.4 million for 75 percent in Merchant Banks total value , Fortiz was said to offered GHC 90 million Ghana cedis.
Also, persons close to the deal revealed that while Fortiz's deal would leave SSNIT with 8% stake, First Rand's offer promised SSINT a 23% stake. So Why was First Rand offer rejected, a situation that cost the Ghanaian tax payers millions of dollars? The Mahamas should explain to Ghanaians. I SHALL RETURN!

The plan is that Wontumi should refuse to co-operated an md the worse that can happen is a jail term which would run concurrently with the galamsey one, and that way, he gets to keep the money to himself, without practically being punished for it.
The courts must make sure to give him more years than the galamsey years, or a few more years to serve consecutively, so he doesn't keep the money for free.

Government should not sell public airwave licenses to people to misinform or dummy down the nation.
