Another TikToker arrested over alleged offensive comments about Mahama, First Lady

Another TikToker, identified as Rita Konadu, also known as "Mamaone" with the TikTok name the_onlymamaone1, has reportedly been arrested by the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET).

The 49-year-old is alleged to have made offensive and derogatory comments about President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama in a TikTok video.

Reports indicate that she was arrested at Juaben in the Ashanti Region and is being transported to Accra to assist with investigations and other legal processes.

A video sighted by GhanaWeb on July 22, 2026, shows the woman in handcuffs while in police custody.

Her arrest adds to a series of recent arrests involving individuals accused of making offensive comments about the president on social media.

One of them, Camila Alhassan, was arrested on similar allegations and later arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court.

On July 16, 2026, she pleaded guilty to offensive conduct and was sentenced to one year in prison with hard labour.

The police said Camila's TikTok video had the potential to cause unrest and undermine national cohesion, a factor that informed the charges brought against her.
