New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman aspirant, Paul Afoko, has clarified that he holds an ownership interest in the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, but does not own the luxury facility outright.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV on July 21, 2026, Afoko said his role in the project has often been misunderstood, with some people wrongly suggesting he was the sole owner.

“I have an interest. I don’t own it outright, but I have an interest there,” he stated.

Afoko dismissed claims that his connection to the hotel was the result of political influence or ties to former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

He explained that the project was developed through a partnership model, with financing largely secured through loans.

“If you look at the structure, we built it on loans. A little bit of equity from us, the four partners, but most of it was loans from the African Development Bank and Ecobank. That’s how we did it,” he said.

His comments came as he reflected on his activities during a decade‑long absence from active politics.

Afoko noted that he concentrated on business ventures, including farming and hospitality, though some of his enterprises faced setbacks during that period.
