'I will die for my party; God is my witness!' – Arrested TikToker declares

Rita Konadu, the TikToker arrested by the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) over alleged offensive and derogatory comments about President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama, has spoken publicly about her arrest.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, the 49-year-old remained defiant despite being in police custody.

She declared her loyalty to her political party, saying, “The big six fought for their party, so me Mamaone, I will die for my party. God is my witness.”

Her remarks appeared to attract criticism from some individuals at the court premises, who were heard condemning her actions.

She was also seen being escorted by police officers under tight security.

Konadu, popularly known as “Mamaone” with the TikTok handle the_onlymamaone1, was arrested at Juaben in the Ashanti Region and transported to Accra to assist with investigations and other legal processes.

Her arrest adds to a series of recent arrests involving individuals accused of making offensive comments about the President on social media.

One of them, Camila Alhassan, was arrested on similar allegations and later arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court.

On July 16, 2026, she pleaded guilty to offensive conduct and was sentenced to one year in prison with hard labour.

The police said Camila’s TikTok video had the potential to cause unrest and undermine national cohesion, a factor that informed the charges brought against her.
