That is true but should a trader accept a payment of 10,000 Cedis in One Cedi coins? Times have changed and something should be done about payments of amounts with very low denominations.

I remember going to school in the Sixties, only fairly rich families could afford to even give their children a Penny as Chop Money. Some families could not even afford a Half Penny to their children to buy food at school. If a Pupil goes to where food was sold under the shades of trees with 20 Pesewas to buy food, it was just impossible because the Food Seller cannot have a change. The whole food that she would sell for the day will be less than 20 Pesewas. The Government should stop the coinage of such very low denominations because the coinage is more expensive than the value now. Hahahaha. How many Ghanaians know of, and have seen KAPREBA now? That is Half Penny. Hahahaha. Times have changed. Some of us who were fortunate had Parents who could afford to give us One Penny (Which is KAPRE) to school. Is it not funny?

All money is money, so all coins and notes should be accepted. The trotros, taxis, and the market people should be told they can be fined if they refuse the coins.

BoG slept on its job for a time and all the lower denominations are lost from the system making life costly.
Ghanaians have run off every sales to 1 cedi as the lowest denomination

Not everyone in Ghana is rich like you. Some are poor and they carry coins and small notes. You have to consider them ,too !
