The suspects were taken away by the police
Eleven individuals claiming to be National Security operatives have been arrested by the Eastern Regional Police Command in the Yilo Krobo Municipality.
The suspects, believed to be fake security operatives, are alleged to have extorted money from cannabis farmers in the area.

They were arrested during an intelligence-led operation at Aboa after allegedly collecting GH¢3,000 from some farmers while posing as National Security officers.
A video shared by Citi TV on Facebook on July 23, 2026, showed the suspects sitting at the back of a police Toyota pickup while some angry residents hooted at them.
The footage showed some of the suspects dressed in civilian clothes while they were transported by the police.
Some residents who attempted to attack the suspects were restrained by the police.

The officers urged the residents to file formal complaints at the police station where the suspects were being taken to assist in ongoing investigations.
