Captain Smart's bid for Gomoa Seat faces stiff opposition

Broadcast journalist Captain Smart’s reported bid to contest the Gomoa West parliamentary seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been met with resistance from some party insiders.

The move has been openly opposed by the suspended Awutu Senya East Constituency Chairman, Stephen Ofosu Agyare, also known as TK, who vowed that any attempt by the party to hand Captain Smart the parliamentary ticket would be met with fierce resistance.

He vowed to personally lead the charge to campaign against Captain Smart if that happens.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb on Friday, July 24, 2026, TK questioned Captain Smart's suitability to represent the party, citing his long-standing criticism of politicians.

"If NDC people allow Captain Smart to contest for the Gomoa West parliamentary seat on their ticket, they will hear from me," he said.

TK further accused the broadcaster of frequently insulting politicians and questioned why a tough critic of politician now seeks to enter the political space.

"Captain Smart insults politicians and now wants to become a Member of Parliament. He is a stomach journalist. I will go to Gomoa and campaign against him," he fumed.
