'Interesting cases coming soon' - Deputy AG hints at major ORAL prosecutions

Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, has indicated that Ghanaians should brace for significant prosecutions arising from the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative, with several cases already at advanced stages.

Speaking on TV3's Hot Issues on July 26, 2026, Dr Srem-Sai revealed that prosecutors have identified approximately 30 cases from the ORAL report that are strong enough to pursue in court.

"When we analyze the report I think we had about 30 cases that we thought were prosecutable," he said.

The Deputy AG disclosed that between five and ten of those cases are currently at advanced stages of prosecution.

“I think we have like between five and 10 now,” Dr Srem-Sai stated.

The Deputy Attorney General emphasised that prosecutorial decisions are guided solely by the strength of evidence rather than the profile or political affiliation of the individuals involved.

"We don't actually focus on which one is big or which one is that. We focus on which one is prosecutable," he explained.

He also offered a preview of what lies ahead, suggesting that Ghanaians should expect more substantial prosecutions in the coming months.

"I can tell you there will be some interesting cases coming soon," he hinted.

Dr Srem-Sai reaffirmed the government's commitment to pursuing cases emanating from the ORAL initiative, which was established to investigate allegations of corruption, financial loss to the state, and the misappropriation of public resources.

"We are going to continue prosecuting as far as the oral is concerned; we are going to do it," he added.

ORAL is a government-led initiative focused on investigating and reclaiming misappropriated state funds and assets.
