63% of Ghanaians support Tribunals Bill - Poll

The Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwa, has revealed that a majority of Ghanaians support the government’s plan to reintroduce tribunals into the country’s justice system.

The survey comes shortly after Parliament passed the Tribunals Bill, 2026, on July 16, 2026 by Parliament.

According to the poll shared on his Facebook page on Monday, July 27, 2026, 63% of voters support the decision, while 19% oppose it and 17% have no opinion.

The new law is intended to activate Article 126 of the 1992 Constitution by reintroducing tribunals as part of Ghana’s justice system, with safeguards to ensure fairness and due process.

Although the bill has received significant public support, it has also faced criticism. The Minority in Parliament has argued that the government should focus on improving the existing courts rather than creating tribunals.

Former Vice President and NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has also called on President John Dramani Mahama not to sign the bill into law. He argued that the focus should instead be on making the existing court system faster, stronger, and more accessible, rather than introducing a separate judicial structure.
