Adu-Boahene Trial: 'I can't produce any A-G's report on alleged GH¢49.1m misappropriation - PW4

The lead investigator of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Frank Marshal Cromwell, has told the Accra High Court that he cannot produce any Auditor-General’s report identifying the alleged diversion or misappropriation of the GH¢49.1 million at the centre of the trial involving former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene.

Under cross-examination by counsel for the accused persons, Samuel Atta Akyea, on Monday, July 27, 2026, PW4 (Cromwell) admitted that he was unable to point to any audit report from the Auditor-General that had captured the alleged misuse, diversion or misappropriation of the GH¢49.1 million or any part of the amount.

“Can you point to any Auditor-General’s report that featured the alleged misappropriation or diversion of the sum of GH¢49.1 million or any part of it?” counsel Atta Akyea asked.

“I cannot point to any such report,” PW4 responded.

The witness also admitted that he could not produce any Auditor-General’s report relating to the National Security Coordinator’s account at Fidelity Bank, which the prosecution has linked to the transaction under investigation.

“Can you point to any Auditor-General’s report that touches on the Coordinator’s account — NSC with account number 1070030677849 during the relevant period?” Mr Atta Akyea asked.

“I cannot point to any such report,” PW4 (Cromwell) answered.

This testimony contradicts the Attorney-General’s argument that there has been a diversion of public funds.

This testimony also further confirms the testimony of Edith Ruby Adumuah, Head of Finance of the BNC, who testified that there had not been any audit findings, adverse findings or financial malfeasance and that if any such thing had happened, she would have known.

The case has been adjourned to Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 9:30 am for the continuation of cross-examination of the fourth and final prosecution witness.
