'I was given GH¢300 to protest at EOCO' - Woman alleges after Miracles Aboagye arrest

After going viral during the detention of former IMCCoD Executive Secretary Dennis Miracles Aboagye by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), the woman at the centre of the widely circulated video has spoken about her experience.

It may be recalled that during Miracles Aboagye’s detention by EOCO, some alleged members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gathered at the EOCO premises to protest and demand his release.

During the protest, a video surfaced online showing a young woman identified as Baby Naa referring to Miracles Aboagye as her father while calling for his release.

Speaking in a recent interview, Baby Naa claimed that she was taken to the protest without knowing its true purpose.

According to her, she was asleep when some individuals asked her to accompany them to what they described as a funeral.

She explained that she only realised they were at the EOCO premises after arriving and discovering that the gathering was a protest rather than a funeral.

“I was asleep at home when one of the boys came to tell me that we had a funeral to attend, so I should come. I even thought it was the funeral of one of the boys who had died. They never told me we were going to EOCO.

“When I got there, I realised it was something completely different. So I just did what they asked me to do,” she said.

Baby Naa further alleged that after participating in the protest, the organisers failed to pay her the amount they had promised.

She also claimed that she was affected by pepper spray during the protest and eventually received only GH¢300 after the incident.

“The person they gave the money to didn’t give me everything. I only received GH¢300. I am a mother of four, three boys and a girl. If I had known it was going to be something like this, I wouldn’t have gone,” she added.
