BREAKING: Police blocks hearse conveying body of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo

GhanaWeb has gathered that police have stopped the hearse transporting the body of the late Apostle Prof Emeritus Ing Kwadwo Safo Kantanka from the Transitions Funeral Home, citing a court order, even as funeral proceedings continue at Gomoa Mpota.

The late Kristo Asafo Mission leader was scheduled to be laid to rest on July 30, 2026, after some family members, loved ones, and sympathisers paid their final respects.

However, a 10-day interim injunction issued by the Accra High Court has affected the funeral and burial arrangements.

The funeral grounds had earlier been prepared to receive mourners, church members, and sympathisers who had gathered to honour the renowned entrepreneur, inventor, and religious leader.

The court order, issued on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, temporarily restrains former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, from proceeding with the funeral arrangements pending the determination of a case before the court.

The Head of the Kantanka Family and Leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana, Nana Kojo Safo Akofena, had earlier announced the suspension of all burial arrangements, stating that no funeral would be held until the courts determined issues arising from the late Apostle’s will.

He explained that the decision followed unsuccessful efforts to unite family members and reach an agreement on the burial arrangements, despite interventions by traditional authorities, church elders and other respected personalities.

It will be recalled that Apostle Professor Kwadwo Safo passed away on September 11, 2025.
