Ernest Opoku is demanding compensation from his wife and her ex-lover
A Presbyterian Church catechist, Ernest Opoku, from Akutuase in the Asante Akim North Municipal District of the Ashanti Region, is demanding GH¢100,000 in compensation from his wife, Ashia Opoku, popularly known as Ayi, over allegations of infidelity.
According to Ernest, he and his wife have been married for more than 13 years with four children but he claims that she is still involved in a romantic relationship with her former boyfriend, Akwasi Adae, popularly known as Adae Mogya.
He said he reported the matter to the family on several occasions but they failed to take action. Instead, he alleged that family members accused him of making baseless complaints without evidence.
Ernest further stated that his wife later reported him to the Social Welfare Department for making allegations against her without proof. According to him, the department fined him and directed him to compensate his wife.
Speaking in an interview on Oyerepa Afutuo, a programme on Oyerepa TV that addresses domestic disputes, excerpts of which have since circulated on social media, Ernest recounted his experience.
“We have been married for 13 years. I discovered that she was dating her ex-boyfriend again, Akwasi Adae, popularly known as Adae Mogya. I reported the issue to the family but she denied it and the family accused me of fabricating stories against her,” he said.
Ernest explained that he subsequently monitored his wife and eventually claimed to have caught her at about 1:00 a.m. in the room of her alleged lover. He said he was able to obtain evidence to support his claims.
According to him, on the day he confronted the pair, he broke the man's car window and damaged his wife's dress in an attempt to draw attention to what he described as evidence of the affair.

He further alleged that he was assaulted by the man during the confrontation. However, he managed to take his wife's clothing to her family home as proof of his claims. Ernest said the presentation of the evidence convinced his wife's mother, who later apologised to him.
He added that the man was subsequently arrested and that he was invited by the authorities to assist with investigations. According to Ernest, the man later apologised for the incident.
Ernest says he is now demanding GH¢100,000 in compensation from both his wife and her alleged lover. However, he claims they have only offered to pay GH¢4,000 and provide a crate of eggs as part of a settlement package, an offer he has rejected.
Seeking a resolution, Ernest appeared on the programme to present his case.
Speaking on the show, Akwasi Adae also shared his side of the story.
“The man initially demanded GH¢200,000 and we negotiated it down to GH¢100,000. We are still asking him to reduce the amount further but he has refused. We are still looking for the money,” he said.
