Two VIP JEOUN transport coaches were attacked by armed robbers in separate incidents on major highways in Ghana during the late hours of Wednesday, July 30, 2026 and the early hours of Thursday, July 31, according to a statement issued by the management of VIP JEOUN Transport Company Limited.

The first attack occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m. on the Accra-Kumasi Highway, along a stretch between Apedwa Junction, Nkronso, Akooko, and Akyem Asafo. According to the transport company, armed robbers used a vehicle to block the highway and carried out a robbery operation that trapped three passenger coaches.

During the incident, one VIP JEOUN coach travelling from Accra to Sunyani came under heavy gunfire. The driver, his assistant and three passengers sustained injuries after the attackers repeatedly fired at the vehicle.

Management disclosed that the injured driver has since been transferred to the 37 Military Hospital for further medical treatment. The condition of the other injured victims was not immediately disclosed.

Police officers from the Suhum Division in the Eastern South Region responded swiftly to the scene, successfully repelling the attackers. The officers subsequently cleared the obstruction and reopened the highway to traffic.

In a separate incident around 1:00 a.m., another VIP JEOUN coach travelling on the Kumasi-Sunyani Highway was attacked by armed robbers at Potrikrom.

The robbers reportedly fired at the vehicle, damaging its windshield. However, the armed escort accompanying the coach returned fire and successfully thwarted the attack. No passengers or crew members were injured in the second incident.

A police patrol team later arrived at the scene to provide security and assess the situation.

"VIP JEOUN values the security of passengers and crew on board and remains committed to ensuring hassle-free transportation," the company stated.
