My first encounter with Ghana was in the literature book by that Ghanaian sage Prof Ayi Kwei Armah titled 'the beautiful ones are not yet born' then when I eventually visited Ghana, the only surprise for was 'kenkey' the mental picture I had of it turned out differently but aside from that, the book was spot on so seeing characters like Wontumi, a semi literate Galamsey kingpin welding influence to the point of seeking chairmanship of a political party that has likes of president Kufuor and Nana Ado is not only shocking and embarrassing but shows that Ghana that was identified in that book is still the Ghana of this day and age
