The appeal’s court ruling on Sedina has set a bad precedent and must be reviewed and reversed by the Supreme Court. This woman was tried in absentia and convicted by a competent high court judge after the prosecution had presented convincing evidence . However Sedina knowingly fully well that she would be convicted, left for the States with a medical excuse and never returned until she was finally extradited to Ghana for complete her sentence. Why should the Ghana government go through this arduous extradition process only for her to be released just after three weeks in the country ? The decision by the appeals court undermines the judgement by the high court judge and the work done by the prosecution. Ghanaians would have settled for a reduced sentence but a complete acquittal is proof that Sedina has done no wrong and is innocent . How do we fight corruption with this type of ruling ? This will have a negative impact on Mahama’s agenda to fight corruption and to reset the country.
