The conception, timing and implementation of that project was all based on deceit, corruption and selfishness. Why did he refuse to join and why did other prominent church leaders leave the cathedral board? And we have not forgotten that under his supervision the funds the state give to Capital Bank was misused and still not paid and this was at a time the average Ghanaian and pensioners were experiencing extreme economic difficulties and loss. In a serious country he will be sleeping somewhere and not reminding us of our trauma.

Cathedrals are tourist attractions that promote tourism and, when the architect of the National Cathedral briefed an audience at the Aseshie University about a couple of months ago what the Cathedral entails, one could see from the reactions by the audience what we have really missed as a country. This would have been an edifice that would have served as a huge tourist attraction and generated a lot of revenue for our country and, not to talk about the thousands of employment it would have created.

It's rather Akufo Addo and Ken Ofori-Atta who beat the project with lies and corruption around it. They used the project to enrich themselves and their partners in state looting. Decisions and actions were taken without the knowledge of some of board of trustees. Their requests for transparency were treated with contempt, leading to their resignation. Archbishop Williams, then a board of trustees member, was even on TV questioning why some people were complaining since the project did not involve the use of taxpayers money (because that's what Akufo Addo and partners in state looting told us all) only to find out later that millions of dollars of taxpayers money had purportedly been 'used' for the project.

Its eventual failure cannot simply be attributed to Ghanaians being “small-minded.”

Please read the audit reports. They raise legitimate questions that Christians, just like every other citizen, have a duty to ask.

Being Christians does not mean we should suspend reason or defend every political whim and caprice dressed up in religious language. Faith does not require intellectual surrender.

Countries that have successfully delivered major national projects did not simply announce grand visions and expect citizens to applaud. They planned properly, costed them realistically, consulted widely and built national consensus.

There is nothing small-minded about demanding accountability for a national project. That is responsible citizenship.

The NDC is no better than the NPP and politics in Ghana is about get voted to power to acquire wealth. At least the NPP can boast of NHIS, Free Education and other social programs that is helping Ghana, but why is the NDC in power? What have they done that is heping Ghana? I am afraid to travel by road from Accra to Kumasi, and why is that? Mahama fired no gun but he has wiggled his way back to power, and is playing "State Capture". Now we have a "Gold Board", and a Cocoa Bord and for what? We have no class A road in Ghana, and no Rail Lines. Who or what is stealing our resources? We must be asking questions?
