We should go back to the time of Efo Julor John Rawlings when Commercial Vehicles had regulated Speed Limits on the road. Yet Vehicle Drivers had Log Books where their times of Departure were logged in and made to undertake Drug and Alcohol Tests before they left the Station. They had to log in at various distances after leaving the Lorry Station and log out at their final destination where they also underwent Drug and Alcohol tests in the presence of MTTU , Police,and Military Officers. That ended the time when the Toyota Hiace was becoming a Moving Coffin. We can revisit that

These arbitrary and uncontrollable speeding by Commercial Drivers could not have taken place at the time of Efo Julor John Rawlings and his AFRC Regimes. The Asante and Akyem have a saying which goes thus: "NEA ONE GU NE HO WO EFIE KORAA NO, EWO NEA YESE KAEKAE NO. This may be translated literally as THE ONE WHO SHITS ON THE SELF, THERE IS WHAT WE USE TO REMEMBER HIM. Rawlings was never my favorite but there are certain things that he did that were good and we shall always use to remember him. Anyway, I never liked the history arbitrary Government and it's evil and extremities. Let his blind followers roast me alive on this forum.

Sorry Mr Frank late JJ Rawlings is a contributor to this problem. He weaponised GPRTU in the 80s to the extent that everyone who has come after him has struggled to control them.Kufour wanted to modernise our commercial public transport sector when he came, but these guys gave him a hell of a time.He planned banning Trotros (vans converted buses) in future and asked GPRTU to form companies so that he would assist them to import bigger buses but they resisted. Former President Kufour had wanted private companies to takeover our transport sector like what VIP. STC ,Metro Mass Transport etc are doing. Leaving our transport to individuals like what we are doing is a huge challenge to the advancement of the society and our economy. I had an idea about this bcoz I used to work in a sector which was planning to facilitate this good idea of Fmr President Kufour ,which I've seen elsewhere in Europe particularly Russia & other former Soviet countries. Private companies operating public commercial transport are easier to control than individuals doing their own thing.
