This woman alleges that she developed breathing problems during a ride home
A woman has recounted a frightening experience she had with a driver while returning home after attending the Chale Wote Street Art Festival with her friends.
In a video that has since gone viral on social media on August 18, 2026, she stated that she was returning home from a social event, so, she ordered a ride to her destination.

She indicated that one of her friends joined her for the ride.
After her friend alighted at Kaneshie, the driver asked her how much she was supposed to pay for the ride.
After telling him, he requested that the ride be taken offline. After a while she began experiencing difficulty in breathing and felt unwell and suspected that the driver had injected something into the vehicle.
Concerned about the situation, she took a screenshot of the ride details and shared it with a friend before asking the driver to pull over.
" I was struggling to breathe, so, I told him, I wanted to pee so he should park. He was adamant but he eventually obliged. I then got out of the car, then I paid half of the amount, the driver appealed to me to get back into the car, but I refused,” she recounted.
She noted that she does not know what would have happened if she had agreed to continue the journey, particularly because she was already experiencing breathing difficulties.
She is therefore urging passengers not to agree to requests by drivers to take ride-hailing trips offline.
For her, refusing the request to continue the journey offline was a decision that she believes helped protect her from a potentially dangerous situation.
