George Afriyie is a Former Ghana Football Association President
Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President George Afriyie has reiterated his call for a change in leadership at the football governing body after eight years of the Kurt Okraku administration.
Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, Afriyie said he believes a new person should take over the GFA presidency when the current administration’s tenure ends.
He stressed that his call is not necessarily about his own ambition to return to the GFA presidency, although he admitted he remains open to the possibility.
Afriyie said his preference is to see a younger, competent and upright individual emerge to lead Ghana football.

According to him, he is currently consulting on the matter and has not yet made a personal decision about contesting the next GFA presidential election.
He, however, maintained that his position remains unchanged.
“I want to see a new person emerge as the next GFA president, and I’ll do everything in my power to see that come true,” Afriyie said.
The former GFA vice president also described himself as highly capable of leading the association, citing his experience, previous role as vice president and ideas for developing Ghana football.
With the next GFA elections expected in 2027, Afriyie says there is still enough time for him to decide whether he will personally seek the presidency.
