Karela United FC is a Ghana Premier League club
Ghana Premier League side Karela United FC have been handed a registration ban by FIFA after failing to settle a financial obligation owed to former player Sana Camara.
In a letter dated August 17, 2026, and issued via the FIFA Legal Portal, the world football governing body confirmed that the sanction against the Tamale-based club has been activated.
The decision relates to an earlier ruling under case number FPSD-23160, with FIFA stating that Karela United have yet to fulfil their financial obligations to Camara.
“As it appears that, despite the Decision, Karela United (the Respondent) has not yet complied with its financial obligations towards Sana Camara,” FIFA stated.
The sanction prevents Karela United from registering new players at both national and international levels.
FIFA said the ban will remain in force until the outstanding amount is fully paid, although the restriction cannot exceed three entire and consecutive registration periods.

The governing body has also directed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to enforce the ban at the national level if it has not already done so.
The development comes during the current transfer and registration period and could limit Karela United’s ability to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Ghana Premier League season.
FIFA did not disclose the amount owed to Camara in its latest correspondence.
Karela United must therefore settle the outstanding obligation in line with the original FIFA decision to have the registration restriction lifted.
