Adu-Boahene said his wife was a National Security operative - Deputy AG reveals

Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, has indicated that he is shocked by the narrative in the media on the case of the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahen, who had been accused of misappropriating over GH¢49 million of funds of the bureau.

Speaking in a recent interview on JoyNews, Dr Srem-Sai asserted that the narratives that sometimes drive media conversations on the case, by lawyers of the accused, are often completely different from the facts.

He said that, for him, the case is “very simple”, stating that it involves the former Director-General being accused of taking money belonging to the state and diverting it to his personal private accounts and spending it.

He said that while the state has presented evidence in court, he keeps hearing different narratives from the accused person's lawyers, including the suggestion that his wife was a National Security operative, which was also abandoned.

“At another point, they were trying to suggest that the private account which had the details of the accused person (Adu-Boahen) and his wife as the owners was a National Security account and that the accused person’s wife is a National Security operative,” he said.

He also stated that the accused person claimed that he had used the funds in question to purchase equipment for the bureau, which he said turned out to be false after a check of the inventory of the bureau.
