Inusah Adams scores as Kotoko edge Heart of Lions in friendly

Asante Kotoko forward Inusah Adams made a strong early statement to new head coach Eric Tinkler with a superb match-winning goal in the Porcupine Warriors’ training friendly against Heart of Lions at the University of Ghana Stadium on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

The former Okwawu United forward came off the bench and scored the only goal of the game, giving Kotoko a 1-0 victory as Tinkler continues to assess his squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Adams produced the decisive moment with an impressive display of pressing. He capitalised on Heart of Lions’ attempt to play out from the back, winning possession before cutting onto his stronger left foot.

The forward then curled a composed effort into the far bottom corner, leaving the goalkeeper with little chance and handing Kotoko the win.

The goal could prove significant for Adams as he looks to convince Tinkler that he deserves a more prominent role in the new coach’s plans.

Adams joined Kotoko at the beginning of the 2025/26 season after catching the eye at Okwawu United, with former head coach Karim Zito backing him to make an impact at the club.

Although he showed flashes of brilliance during his first campaign, Adams struggled to establish himself as a regular member of the starting XI.

With a new coach now in charge, however, the competition for places has effectively started again.

His goal against Heart of Lions gives Adams an encouraging platform as he seeks to impress Tinkler and force his way into Kotoko’s plans for the new season.
