Thaddeus Sory is a private legal practitioner
A private legal practitioner, Thaddeus Sory, has criticised lawyers who have threatened to boycott court sittings over the legal vacation, saying such a move is not the appropriate way to resolve their concerns.
Speaking on the KSM Show on August 18, 2026, he condemned the approach adopted by the lawyers in responding to the issue.
According to him, the lawyers should have resorted to the appropriate channels to engage the decision rather than threatening to boycott court proceedings or using the media to express their grievances.

"That's not how to resolve it… that's not a legal way of resolving issues. As soon as the decision is taken, you don't engage the decision in any way [you like].And you are hearing news about how people are biased and press conferences are being organised. That's not how to resolve it,” he said.
His comments come amid concerns raised by defence lawyers in some high-profile criminal cases over the decision to continue proceedings during the legal vacation which runs from August 1 to September 30, 2026.
However, the judiciary and Attorney General maintain that vacation courts remain operational to prevent undue delays in the administration of justice.
