The late Deputy Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Dramani Bukari, has been laid to rest in Damongo in the Savannah Region in accordance with Islamic traditions.

Dr Bukari was buried on Thursday, August 20, 2026, following a Janazah prayer at his family residence.

The Islamic clergy delivered a sermon on the inevitability of death before leading the funeral prayer, which was attended by family members, management and staff of the NPA, colleagues and well-wishers from across the country.

Following the prayer, the remains of Dr Bukari were conveyed to the Damongo cemetery, where he was buried in line with Islamic customs.

Hundreds of mourners, including dignitaries and industry leaders, joined the ceremony to pay their final respects and express condolences to the bereaved family.

Dr Bukari passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, after a short illness.

As Deputy Chief Executive of the NPA, Dr Bukari played a key role in the Authority’s operations and spearheaded the establishment of its Centre of Excellence.

He was also instrumental in advancing the implementation of the government’s 24-hour economy programme within the downstream petroleum sector.

Throughout his career, Dr Bukari served in various capacities and was recognised for his humility, discipline, commitment and selfless leadership.

He was also described by colleagues and associates as a mentor who demonstrated a strong commitment to his family, friends, colleagues, subordinates and leaders.

Dr Bukari was a husband, father, academic and mentor.
