Asanteman bids Otumfuo farewell ahead of US trip

Members of Asanteman have gathered at the airport to see off His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, as he embarks on a trip to the United States.

In a video shared on social media on August 23, 2026, members of Asanteman were seen at the airport to bid farewell to the Asantehene and wish him a safe journey.

The group offered prayers and well wishes to Otumfuo ahead of his week-long programme in the United States, which will culminate in the Akwasidae USA Celebration.

In a message accompanying the video, Asanteman wished the Asantehene a safe, fruitful and successful journey.

“May His Majesty’s journey be safe, fruitful and blessed as he embarks on a week-long programme culminating in the Akwasidae USA Celebration,” the message said.

The airport send-off reflected the respect and affection members of Asanteman have for the Asantehene as he prepares to represent the Asante Kingdom during his engagements in the United States.

Otumfuo’s visit is expected to include a series of activities ahead of the Akwasidae USA Celebration, which will bring together members of the Asante community and other stakeholders.

Asanteman has subsequently expressed hopes that the Asantehene’s journey will be successful and that he will return safely after completing his engagements.
