Nii Armah Ashietey receives blessings from Teshie chiefs ahead of NDC chairmanship bid

Nii Armah Ashietey, a former Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey and former Minister of Employment, joined chiefs and elders at the Teshie Palace to celebrate the Ga-Dangme festival, Homowo.

As part of the celebration, Nii Armah Ashietey informed the chiefs of his intention to officially declare his bid to contest for the National Chairmanship of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The Paramount Chief of Teshie, Gbetsoolo Nii Ashitey Akomfra III and his elders subsequently poured libation on his behalf, invoking the blessings of the ancestors to support him in his bid.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony on August 26, 2026, Nii Armah Ashietey said his years of experience in politics and public service had prepared him to lead the NDC and help the party retain power in the 2028 general elections.

“I don’t think that journey is anything special. I have been a branch chairman and a constituency chairman, and therefore, coming as a national chairman is part of the process of development.

“The experience that I have acquired over the years will help me to lead the NDC into victory in the 2028 elections,” he said.

He was accompanied by Hajia Amina Amadu, Former DCE Bono, Osah Mills, Former Minister of State and Captain (RTD) Eric Dodoo, Former Ablekuma South Constituency Chairman.
