Woman details how Belgian job offer led to bust of a mega human trafficking ring

A 26-year-old Ghanaian woman, identified by the pseudonym Doris Ampem, has narrated how, what appeared to be a life-changing job opportunity in Belgium allegedly turned out to be a human trafficking scheme.

In a video shared by GHOne TV on X, on August 27, 2026, Doris recounted how she was approached with an offer to work as a dental surgery assistant in Belgium just weeks before completing her national service.

According to the documentary, the opportunity initially appeared genuine and offered her the prospect of leaving Ghana to start a new life abroad.

Doris said the offer came through a woman she trusted and described as an aunt.

However, investigations later suggested that the arrangement was allegedly linked to a human trafficking network operating across Ghana and Nigeria.

“I met the lady called Abigail Boateng in church who introduced the offer to me. I was asked to raise an amount of about GH¢33,000 for the travel arrangement, which was difficult to raise,” she said.

She explained that as discussions surrounding the travel arrangements continued, she began to notice developments that raised suspicion.

“Along the line, the conversations were getting suspicious, and so I involved my mother. They decided to engage investigators on the matter,” Doris added.

The documentary indicated that Doris subsequently played along with the alleged traffickers as efforts were made to uncover the network behind the recruitment scheme.

According to the caption accompanying the video snippet, her cooperation eventually contributed to the arrest of a suspect in Nigeria in connection with the alleged human trafficking ring.

The case highlights the risks associated with fraudulent overseas job offers, particularly those presented through trusted acquaintances and informal networks.
