A civil forfeiture of $460,000 tells me that this amount was seized from him because he could not prove the legitimate source of the money, not that he comitted a specific crime. He could have been charged if they knew for sure that he committed a crime.Eg. If you plan to travel through Europe to US with over $10,000 cash. You better have solid evidence to prove the legitimate source of the money or risk losing the money to customs after declaration at any port of entry. This can also happen after a police stop in US.

Ken lived and schooled in the USA so knows and understands their system and how it operates. Some people are fighting for his deportation but the USA system is not arbitrary as that of Ghana during the time of Efo Julor John Rawlings. I understand that Ken has got the Green Card. He has not committed any Felony so it is not possible that he can just be deported like that
If he really has that much money, only God knows the kind of astute lawyers he can employ for her defense. We should just know that Uncle Sam will just not deport a person who is not a threat to USA with that much money. Do some Ghanaians who are asking for his deportation know how much Ken is doing and contributing to the economy of Uncle Sam? How many people he has employed and given accommodations to? Ghana also has terrible bad history of Human treatment at the time of Efo Julor John Rawlings, especially during his AFRC and PNDC Regimes. Many people were just taken to the horrible and miserable and disgusting Public Tribunals where they were sentenced to Death without any Right to Appeal. And during all these Trials, the obnoxious and nasty Tsatsu Tsikata who is well versed in the jurisprudence of Ghana and could have done better rather prosecuted them. At those Public Tribunals, the verdicts of cases were foregone conclusions. It was EITHER AN ACCUSED WAS GUILTY OR WAS GUILTY. People were just taken to the Tribunals to be executed. Why were people like Afrifa, Kutu Acheampong and the Air Force Commander from Osino killed? Was it just a ploy to just kill Akans especially the Asante, Akyem, and the Two Speaking Akwapem people? General Akuffo did not even have a house in Accra. His only house was at his hometown Akropong
And with such a horrible Judicial past, Uncle Sam is never going to deport Ken Ofori Atta to Ghana. Ken did not flee Ghana but sought permission to travel to the USA for Medical Treatments which he is undergoing still. Which Democratic Government in the Western World will deport a person undergoing Medical Treatments to a country with a poor Judicial past? Ken is not a burden to Uncle Sam, has not committed any Felony, and does not depend on Uncle Sam. He has his Green Card. Uncle Sam doesn't deport people like that. He has very Good Lawyers defending him. Any attempts to deport such a person can drag on up to the USA Supreme Court which can take about 20 years or more. Ken is already over 70 years. Which country will deport a person who will be 90 years by then to a country with a horrible Judicial past? Ken is in the USA with his family, loved ones and not a Felon. At worse he can be asked to leave the USA but he can't be deported
He can leave and start a new life in a country like Canada. Has Ghana got that much money to pursue him as USA and possibly Canadian Courts for over twenty or thirty years? Ken has not even been found guilty of any crime in Ghana. Ken is gone with the winds and Ghana's US Dollars. Forget about him and the supposed Ghana' s stolen money.
