The colonial government established the "West African Frontier Forces" through which we have the current military and the last time our military engaged in a war, was when they sent to the Congo else, I dare anybody to mention a war that our military had ever fought.

What was primary was senior còrrupt military leaders in charge were busily thinking of amassing insane wealth on the blind side of the younger officers who were guarding these top officers at their huge residential post in roman ridge where General Frederick W K Akuffo was living at the time. Officers assigned to protect the household and akuffo himself were treated badly by her wife. And this made things worse. At acheampongs residence the juniorofficers were also treated unfairly. Offi ers who were severed water in drinking glasses at both residences later got to learn that the glasses they drunk from were smashed by wives of boss very senior generals. This made it so easy to use the junior officers against their seniors whom they were there to protect. First to fall was kutuin the palace coup after which kutu wS placed underhouse arrest. Akuffo was not an action military officer who attended sandhurst. He was a typical calm proud akropong citizen. Very humble but loved him immediate family nieces and nephews. Shame he couldnt get his wife to stop breaking glasses soldiers used at their residence. So made it very easy to get him arrested. He could have easily been help cross togo border like IGP Ako also from akropong. He was so kind and generous to all who protected him. Life is a lesson. What wewitnessed should never ever happen in ghanas history even again. Persons especially the lebanesse, asian familys wives and daughters lost fingers, during the coups because soldiers rampaging homes, business were so stones they could watch for rings to be removed hence cut of vi tims fingers. God help ghana. We never want to ever witness another military coup. I female friend was forced to smoke and chew weed she was smuggling out of kotoka on the tarmac. Rawlings had nothing what so ever to do with the dark side of terror some soldiers caused to civilians.
