These protected spaces were very jealously guarded by generations gone, for generations unborn. Each new generation has picked up the batton from the last, and seamlessly maintained the standards they found. Nobody would ever dare to interfere with or encroach upon these green spaces. Enhancements yes, but depletions No.

Nobody EVER says I want to appropriate a part of Hyde Park, Regent’s Park or whatever park, to put up a concrete structure - NEVER. The same NEVER, I can safely say, applies in New York’s Central Park, and in countless similar green spaces all over the globe.

We need to get up to speed and follow international best practices regarding green spaces, and adopt the highest environmental protection standards for the sake of our nation’s health and mental wellbeing.

So very glad to read just now that GoldBod has dropped its proposal. Thank goodness. Perhaps we do need a new and dynamic Ministry of Parks and Gardens (and perhaps Beaches) to rekindle the original vision, and raise environmental awareness and protection standards for the country. Wake up Ghanaians.

I was shocked the other day when I saw a football park in Effiakuma (Takoradi) with structures like that of a market and someone said it could be for the 24 hour economy and I said this is wrong because it in the previous administration another park near CK Mann residence was turned into housing projects.What a country are we building because now we build on cemetery, around and inside school facilities,encroach on roads etc.We are just indiscipline and lack neatness meanwhile we travel to other countries and marvel at their level of organisation and well planning of their towns and city centres.

I don't think they need such an office so soon. This project would have been the beginning of the end of Goldbod like many of our SOE's. Sammy Gyamfi focus on the core mandate of GoldBod ,get if functioning without unnecessary criticism to move the country forward. After 5 years if GoldBod is doing marvellously well then we can say we have money to invest in an office complex.
