It is street knowledge Afrifa was involved in all the subsequent coups until 1979.

Let's leave out Achempong and Gen Akufo for now.

The coup of 1966 set Ghana back 300 years. In Nkrumah, we had a benevolent leader who cared so much for the Ghanaian and was ready to do anything to make a small newly formed independent nation successful.

Of course, Rawlings is no angel. He surely, amassed wealth for his family in the last days in office and that is shameful. However, Rawlings was only a product of the wanton thievery of the ELITES who had managed to put the neck of Ghana under their armpit like a cheap gongon drum.
Something had to give way as the masses suffered so came Rawlings, the product of the anger of the people.

When Rawlings took power, there were Ghanaians all across the country who wanted to see blood of those who had destroyed Ghana since 1966 flow.

The sad thing, is some of us are too young to know these facts and seem to be following the children of those same traitors, attempting to repeat the sins of the past and by so doing, summon back the demons that were invited into Ghana in 1966.

Rawlings is not the only leader to have taken care of himself and family. Even the so called democrats like Kufuor have many questionable deals going on during their time in office.

We can only look forward to a prosperous Ghana for Ghanaians if we learn from the past, stop those who seem to have suicidal thoughts for Ghana and work hard for Mother Ghana.

What I am trying to tell you is, coups whether necessary or not can be conducted by anyone Akan, Gongo, Dagomba, Ewe etc.

I ask this question because of Nkrumah's quest to unite the entire continent of Africa at a time the colonial powers were all over the place. That idea forced him to do things that shouldn't be.

The British gave Ghana to Nkrumah and not the entire continent of Africa which became part of this "Daily Thought" right after independent. Remember he used 10million pounds to support the "Ghana-Guinea-Mali Alliance" and what benefit did Ghana gain from that?

Don't you think that money could have dualized the road linking our two big cities then?

If you ten children, there is no need for you have different thought about them. Whatever you do for them should be the same because they are your children. Now, why did Nkrumah give free education to the Northern territories and left the South?

Yes, Nkrumah did well but, later he veered off road leading to his ouster. If he had focused on Ghana alone leaving the African Unity for later generations, I think Ghana would have been better under his watch.

Kufuor embarked on an Africa unionisation project in the later part of his government because I am sure if you talk to him, you would realise how hard it is to make way when 54 nations of similar heritage work against ourselves everyday.

So was Nana Addo who even went further and brought in more black Americans and Caribbeans than has ever been. Very poorly implemented as well.

Giving money to Mali and Guinea is not a bad thing considering the good relations we've had with them since.

See, Japan, India, China, UK, USA etc also have given Ghana money over the years because that is what big brothers do.

We had the chance to build lots of dual carriageways if not for the wanton corruption that has bedeviled us since 1966, of course with the exception of Krobo Adusei during Nkrumah's time. He was duly removed from office after the golden bed scandal.

Nkrumah himself knew how hard the task was to unite Africa and warned the African leaders in 1958 that, it was now or never. Stress on the word, never.

We can keep talking about our failures but that would not get us anywhere.

Our primary goal is, to know the past and use the lessons to create a better Ghana for ourselves.

I don't support any further investment in the unification of Africa. It is dead and buried.

Our leaders should focus on building partnership with like minded African nations, maybe Gabon, Cape Verde, Mauritius etc as we still need some common partnerships from our continent.

Nkrumah was a visionary, and many of his ideas have been implemented in our continents successful.

After all, he succeeded in created the United Ghana we see today in the face of Western displeasure. I am sure you would have thought the same of uniting Africa with this kind of success belt on your shoulder.
Nkrumah brought the Gold Coast, Togoland, Northern Ghana and Ashanti together.

We have the privilege of hindsight, so be measured with your criticism of Nkrumah.

Ken Agyapong criticized the NPP government for awarding contracts to Jerry John Rawlings. If Rawlings "amassing" wealth stands, isn't it contradictory? Because that wealth should be so colossal it might take a while to finish.

We're all aware that immediately after Kufuor's NPP took over, Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings developed a serious illness and required foreign health institutions' intervention. Rawlings had to fall on friends in the UK to effect payment for the procedure to take place in Switzerland.

Kevin Taylor referred to it recently and it became polemical. Of course, I knew about this at the time it happened.

Lastly, a year or so, before his death, Rawlings mentioned Jospong as the person helping him financially, and people in Ghana yelled insults. Research this too.

In the light of these, isn't it too brazen to be accusatory about Rawlings having amassed wealth? It's a lie. A lie told a thousand times will never be veracious.

He had little value for the Ghanaian and was always happy to put the interest of foreigners above us.

What I have realised since Kufuor came to office is, some elements within the NPP do not think Ghana should be sovereign and working towards economic emancipation. They will do everything to sell off Ghana piece by piece to themselves and foreigners whenever they have the chance.

Of course, we are a nice people and tolerate foreigners sometimes better than ourselves but Ghanaians only have one country which is surrounded by French nations and we have to therefore see to the betterment and happiness of the Ghanaian before any foreigner.

This is non negotiable and every party must work towards that.

I will welcome the military anyday if this simple thing is undermined as long as the military is not in for themselves.

Yes, I understand that Akufo-Addo's government might have messed-up here and there but good people, let's appreciate the effort made in managing the pandemic.

It's always easy when people have beef with others to everything wrong in what they do or say. I'm not sure if Ghana is doing any better economically now. I see the current government manipulating exchange rate and using it as a measure of how the economy is performing but we can all see that the appreciation in the Ghana Cedi against the major trading currencies haven't in any way impacted the prices of basic commodities. Ordinary people are still struggling to make ends meet. Let pause here for now.
